Concept : Faux-amis dans les adverbes en -MENT

Instructions
You already know hundreds and hundreds of French words!
French and English share the same root languages: Greek and Latin.
Both languages are about 40% Greek and 40% Latin, which means they are roughly 80% the same at the root level.
Let’s check it out!

Today’s focus: These adverbs look like English -LY words but have different meanings (faux-amis).

Exercice 1 – Mixed Fill in the French word

1. , je joue à un jeu vidéo.
= Currently, I am playing a video game.
2. Le parc est calme.
= The park is pleasantly calm.
3. Je préfère jouer .
= I prefer to play otherwise.
4. , j'ai beaucoup gagné.
= Lately, I have won a lot.
5. , c'est une bonne idée.
= Indeed, it is a good idea.
6. , j'aime le sport.
= As well as, I like sports.
7. , je préfère les jeux solo.
= In fact, I prefer solo games.
8. , c'est vrai.
= Indeed, it is true.
9. , c'est amusant.
= Obviously, it is fun.
10. Je finirai ce niveau.
= I will finish this level possibly.

Exercice 2 – Mixed Complete the sentences

= Finally, I won!

= Necessarily, you will succeed.

= Fortunately, everything went well.

= Unfortunately, I lost the match.
